It’s International Day of Charity today so we’re wishing luck to Intrinsic’s Elaine Missen for her marathon fundraising trek. Elaine is undertaking Trek26 South Devon Coast Route organised by the Alzheimer’s Society on Saturday 9th September.
Elaine is walking for a cause close to her heart. At the end of 2022 her dad was formally diagnosed with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Parkinson’s Disease.
“It’s a cruel disease which has already claimed both my grandad and uncle,” she explains. “I’m committed to the charity’s 26 mile fundraising hike to help spare other families from its devastating impact.”
Elaine’s shunned her colleagues’ training tips, but instead of a lecture on foolhardiness, we’re inviting donations for her epic feat.
Caring for someone with dementia while raising your own young family is a tough gig – far more than walking 26 undulating miles with minimal training. So, if you can identify with Elaine’s challenge and would like to support the Alzheimer’s Society, please click on the link below to her JustGiving page.
There’s never a good time to ask for money, but we know Elaine and the charity’s dedicated teams would value anything you can spare to help fund vital dementia support and research. Thank you for making a real difference!
