Intrinsic FE colleagues joined together (at home) to support International Women’s Day ‘Choose To Challenge’ campaign.

Raising their hands high, the team pledged commitment to addressing the diversity imbalance within the engineering sector.

“Don’t let our modest size fool you into doubting Intrinsic’s commitment to workplace diversity and equality in the wider engineering sector,” states Director Chris Roberts.

“We’re currently recruiting,” he adds, “and Intrinsic makes the perfect move for a suitably qualified professional who identifies as female. We’re a dynamic team, presently one third female, and punches above our weight in a crowded market.”

Chris continues: “We operate in a demanding and competitive sector, but our employees are engaged, well-supported and valued with room to develop. Moreover, we’re a friendly and inclusive bunch.

Choose to Challenge – wellbeing matters

“Staff know we have their interests at heart and offer flexibility around changing personal circumstances. When the Covid-19 pandemic stopped us meeting in person, we could develop our shared virtual space. Microsoft Teams gave us the chance to check-in more frequently than in-person schedules might allow. The past year raised challenges for everyone, but finding ways to helps colleagues achieve a personal balance is intrinsic to how we operate.

“Furthermore, as professional engineers we undertake projects designed to help clients optimise building services within their portfolios. But increasingly, this work reflects our intrinsic wellbeing values: the pandemic helped us re-evaluate what really matters at work and beyond, and shone a new light on what wellbeing means to us individually. We hope our sister company i-Wellbeing (launched early 2020) will help us – and other businesses – deliver that even more comprehensively.”
